Things To See and Do in Lanzrote

If you feel like venturing out of your luxury villa why not go and see some of the attractions that lanzarote has to offer.

Rancho Texas is a Western Theme Park with plenty to do for all of the family.

Horse riding can be booked here for the more energetic and there is also a golf driving range opposite.

At Rancho there is also a wild west night complete with cowboys and Indians and all you can eat and drink buffet. A great night out.

Submarine Safaris operate one of the worlds most sophisticated tourist submarines from the exclusive marina of Puerto Calero.

Catlanza offer a daily Catamaran Sailing excursion from the elegant Puerto Calero Marina to the beautiful Papagayo beaches.

The Princesa Ico is a glass-bottomed catamaran offering several marine excursions.

The Lanzarote Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the Canary Islands with hundreds of marine species that can be observed.

Guinate Wildlife Park, near Haria in northern Lanzarote, is home to many species of exotic birds, animals, reptiles and fish and is set in 45,000 sq metres of tropical garden.

The Cactus Garden was created by local artist, the late Cesar Manrique, and features an impressive collection of Cacti and sculptures and a restored Windmill.

There is a great family water park just a short 5 minute drive from the house on the road to Costa Teguise .

There are two go kart tracks very close to house and these provide a great afternoons entertainment.

For a relaxing afternoon there is a lovley childrens play park and skate board park on the outskirts of Arrecife close to the town hall. There are toilets and a great bar just off the end of the beach

There is a horse and camel riding center on the road to Playa Blanco called Lanzarote Cabillo a great stop off for a coffee and play at the cowboy theme play park, which is free as long as you have a coffee or beverage at the bar.

Here you can try camel riding or horse riding in the well equipped stables.

Cultural Things To See And Do In Lanzarote

There are a wealth of museums, castles and art galleries on the island from the world famous Ceasar Manrique who is responsible for the stickt planning laws on the island ensuring that there are no high rise buildings and that the island maintains the typical canarian feel of white washed villages.

Castillo de San Gabriel -The Castillo de San Gabriel is a 16th Century fortress overlooking Arrecife Harbour.You can dine here and enjoy views of the harbour

El Grifo Wine Mesuem – The wine Museum of Lanzarote is located at the old cellars of the “El Grifo” Wineries, which were built over the volcanic lava left from the 18th century eruptions. A very unique site when you drive through these fields of black volcanic rock.

Jameos del Agua is a cave complex that includes a natural Concert Hall with wonderful acoustics, subterranean lagoon, a restaurant and a museum.

Across the road for this attraction is the Green caves a natural formation well worth a visit.

The House and Monument to the Farm Labourer are a tribute to the traditional farming techniques of Lanzarote known locally as El monumeto de Campisino.

Lagomar Meseum is a short 3 km drive from the house and the restaurant here is second to none.

Legend has it that this heavenly place once belonged to the famous actor Omar Sharif, who fell in love with the house while filming in Lanzarote. It is now home to a great restaurant where you can catch live Sunday afternoon jazz sessions. Legend also says that he lost it in a card game.

The Castillo de San Jose, built in 1799, now houses a Modern Art Gallery and Restaurant.

This can be visited when you make a trip to the famous Sunday market in Teguise as the castle towers above the ancient capital of Lanzarote.
