Majorca is a place highly popular as holiday destination, particularly for tourists from Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Scandinavian countries. With its amazing hidden natural treasures and landscapes, tourists and travellers alike will surely be mesmerized.

Majorca or Mallorca, whatever way you prefer to spell it, and whatever way you wish to pronounce it, is the largest of Balearic Islands, and along with its sister islands of Formentor, Menorca and Ibiza, lies in the Mediterranean Sea off the south east coast of mainland Spain.

Flying time from most UK airports is around two – two and a half hours and on arrival local time is one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. Whatever you enjoy in life you will find plenty of things to do in Mallorca. The terrain is so changeable, from coastal to mountain to beautiful open countryside, that it is difficult to explore in a short two week stay, which is why people return year after year.
The majority of beaches in Mallorca are kept to a high standard of cleanliness and it is usually safe to swim in most areas. One of the best ways to tour the island is to hire a car or bike so that you can see everything at your own leisure. A must is to get the ancient train to Soller, travelling through olive groves to this picturesque town.

The first recognisable landmark on the final approach before landing will be the magnificent 14th Century Gothic cathedral at nearby Palma, and the sight of it from the air never ceases to take your breath away. The airport, is a large modern facility, and is located in the south of the island just outside the capital of Palma.

Since the onset of major tourism in the 1960,s Mallorca has without doubt been a popular tourist detination with a mulitude of nationalities offering a wide range of attractions to suit everyone.

Mallorca is rich with cultural places to visit and the most famous is the cathedral in Palma the Capital of Majorca

For over 90 years there has been a tram running to the Port of Sollier form the old town of Sollier and is well worth a visit. The road can become busy during the summer so why not take the train and meander through the country side through orange groves and vineyards

From a converted 17th Century manor house in the old town of Soller, the old tram clatters its way down to Palma around 5 times everyday. Both tourists and locals alike, have been making this journey now for the past 90 years in the vintage brass and mahogany carriages that are a trademark of this train, whilst admiring the breathtaking scenery en-route.

The old Roman town of Pollensa can still be found 5km inland from the port, and it is certainly worth a visit with many of the narrow streets dating back to the 18th Century.

The old church in Sineu is well worth a visit and is now home to the local nuns. The church has been there for over 700 years and has been the center of village life for decades .

Sinue is also the home of an ancient market that has been held here for over 700 years and still trades in animals and local produce.

The market started trading in 1306 and is one of the oldest and most interesting in Majorca.

Binisalem is a town located in the middle of the island and is a wine producing region and is full of bodegas and vineyards. It is unspoilt by tourism and here you can enjoy a typical Mallorcian lifestyle.

There are many art galleries and museums located in Palma and are well worth a visit.

A glass blowing demonstration is well worth a visit and you can pick up a great bargain to take home with you.

Many theater shows tour around Spain and make a stop in Palma you can catch a Broadway show during the year.
